Speak up

Hello.

I want to tell you more about my special family.  Did that come out wrong?  Maybe it’s, I want to tell you more special things about my family.  That sounds odd, too.  Oh well.  Hopefully Sonny is doing better with his first speech today than I am writing here.

Sonny joined Toastmasters through his company.  They meet once a week during lunch.  He is in the spotlight today.  Topic: Tell something about yourself.  Obviously he joined the group to improve his speech giving ability, which is completely possible since it starts at ground level.  I’m not picking on him.  I feel the same way about my ability.  Yes, you know I can chatter all day.  Speaking to a group is not the problem for most people.  It’s the planning and reading.  We over think each word and get hung up on the details, either not enough or too many.  We forget to answer our own questions.  Then, we jump around to different topics.  Last, we forget to deliver a conclusion.  “Thank you” does not count!

Hopefully he will be generous and display his first speech notes here for you to read.  I know he going to be successful today because he is taking the first step, hoisting up the nerve to try.

In other news, our twins are opening another dollar store.  I’d be getting a great deal on the silk orchids if I didn’t already own them.  I should just be thankful Sadee did the price reduction.  Last time they played this game, everything in the store was $8.  That’s my girl!

Thank you.

(Whaaaat??  I can break my own rules.)

Update: He survives!  Went a little over time, but he was voted best speach of the day.  Very proud of my hubby!
