On Monday afternoon I purchased a softbox (lighting accessory). With the weather being cold and wet, Michelle left Morgan & me at home while she took Sadee & Joshua to formation class at church. This gave me a chance to play around with the softbox. As I was assembling it Morgan walked in my office and asked, “Daddy, can you take my picture?” I was shocked! It’s a rare occurrence that any of our kids volunteer to have their picture taken so of course I said yes. Our ‘Father-Daughter’ session didn’t last long. After 20 minutes, Morgan was done and wanted to play with her ponies. It was the BEST 20 minutes I can remember in a while. Results are below. Happy 4th Birthday to my Little Miss Mo!
On this day, we welcomed into our world Morgan Marie Cantu. She was born at 9:32am weighing 7lbs 7oz and 19 1/4″ long. God gave us another beautiful gift. Are we deserving? Not in a zillion years, but He trusts us! So we parented the best we know how for the past 4 years with this little one (plus about 6 1/2 with the twins) and love our children more than any other human beings could possibly love. That counts for everything!

Cause dat’s how I roll! You know that old saying… “Practice makes perfect.” In my case, practice makes me not suck as much. 
On June 17, at the last minute, a client canceled her photo shoot. Since the gear was ready, the batteries all charged and the bags packed, Michelle had Sandra and Brian waiting in the wings as backup models. Even though I like shooting in natural light, I love the look of flash photography when properly done. Shooting Sandra and Brian gave me the perfect opportunity to practice my off-camera-flash technique.
For those of you that do not know this young couple, Brian is Michelle’s younger brother and Sandra is his wife of nearly six months. They volunteered to be my guinea pigs. I hopped in my ride, scooped them up from da crib, and we jetted out to the Wunderlich Farm Museum. When we arrived at Doerre Middle School, the parking for Wunderlich Farm, the driveway was blocked by two 18 wheelers. We circled back around to get a closer look and by then the trucks started to move out. YIPPIE! We don’t have to find a new location.
We arrived at the Wunderlich Farm Museum around 6:30pm and shot til near dark around 8:15pm. It was so much fun. Sandra and Brian were great sports. They were open to all my suggestions and ideas. Sandra was a trooper even through all the bug bites. Next time I’ll bring bug spray. Thank you guys for being my willing guinea pigs and not knowing any better. As it turns out, these two kiddos have birthdays very close together. Sandra’s is June 18 and Brian’s is June 21. Happy Birthday to you both! I really hope you like your photos. These are just a hand full we picked out to show online.
February 4 was Michelle’s birthday and she wanted to spend it with her family playing bingo on Thursday night. My mom’s birthday is February 5 and she loves to play bingo, too. What better way to spend time with the two most important ladies in my life! We had a blast!! The Lodge at 15th & Beall in the Heights does Bingo every Thursday. Five bucks gets you twelve games. The food is cheap, it’s non-smoking, and the crowds are young. That is a great combination for a good time.
Most of these photos were taken by our new sister-in-law, Sandra. Some how she “borrowed” Michelle’s camera and was secretly taking pictures, including a few self portraits.
Happy 4th Birthday, Briana!!!! You are a sweet, fun, smart, and beautiful little girl. Thank you for inviting us to your party.
Faby set the bar high. This was the first birthday party she organized for one of her daughters. Disney Princess bouncing house in the front yard, pink and purple balloons tied to everything, pizza, punch, mermaid pinata, huge Ariel cake, DJ, and face painter that also made balloon animals.
A pinata at any birthday party is a winner! Lined up by size, Morgan was one of the first. She got the hang of things within two swings. Josh had fun and did most of the damage to the mermaid’s hair. Sadee was further down the line and thankfully so. She knows what she’s doing when you hand her a big stick and say hit it hard. Two fists and over the head swings will do some damage fast.

We continue with the birthday theme. Little Mo, Miss Morgan, or Princess, that’s what we call her around here, turned two on February 1st. Her birthday happened to coincide with Super Bowl Sunday so we postponed her party til February 8th. I know what you’re asking, she’s two years old already? YUP! We can’t believe it either. Our little princess is growing up.
We would like to thank everybody that attended. It’s always great to see our friends and family. And a special thanks to Sandra for making some extra special yummy cupcakes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! My dad, with some help from tio (uncle) Frank, planned and carried out a well orchestrated surprise birthday party. Dad and Frank reserved the banquet room at their favorite Friday night hangout spot…Mamasitas Restaurant. All our family was there, sitting in the dark waiting for mom to arrive. SURPRISE! The look on her face said it all. Technically it was tia (aunt) DeDe’s birthday this night, but we celebrated both. Tia DeDe was in on the whole thing as well.
